Getting to Hamburg Airport – S-Bahn, Car & Train
Hamburg Airport is centrally located in the north of the city and is excellently connected to local and long-distance transport. Whether by S-Bahn direct from the city centre, by car via the A7 or by long-distance train from the northern German hinterland – getting to Fuhlsbüttel is straightforward.
By S-Bahn to Hamburg Airport
The S-Bahn line S1 runs directly to the Hamburg Airport station beneath the terminals. From Hamburg Central Station you are at the airport in just around 25 minutes. Between approximately 6 and 23 o’clock the S1 runs every 10 minutes, and every 20 minutes during off-peak hours – so you can also reach early flights reliably.
By Car via the Motorway
- From the south/west: via the A7, exit Schnelsen-Nord, then follow the airport ring road/Zeppelinstraße.
- From the north (Schleswig-Holstein): also via the A7 to exit Schnelsen-Nord.
- Car parks P1–P9 are signposted from the ring road.
By Train & Long-Distance Bus
Travellers from the surrounding area take Deutsche Bahn to Hamburg Central Station first and then change to the S1. Long-distance buses also serve Hamburg; from the central stops you can also reach the airport by S-Bahn.
